As we welcome in 2026, we welcome a new team member to Hearing Solutions of North Carolina. Dr. Sierra Carpenter joins us this month providing audiological care.
Dr. Carpenter contacted us this past spring inquiring about a position in our clinic. She did research on the care and services we provide and felt that we are the type of practice in which she would like to continue her audiology career. Following best practices in a private practice audiology clinic, unfortunately, is difficult to find in a time of manufacturer owned clinics and big box retailers.
She worked at Blue Ridge Ear Nose and Throat in Boone for the past two years, therefore she has a strong background in diagnostic testing working with the physician at that location.
Dr. Carpenter graduated from East Tennessee State University the year after Dr. Mussler. As cohorts we knew the stellar education that program provides in hearing loss treatment, tinnitus and balance.
We are all excited to have her as member of the team. She spent some time with us this summer and was a natural fit. Providing audiological care depends on a well-oiled machine and she brings compassion and knowledge.
Her presence will allow me to step back from direct patient care. This will give me the opportunity to work on the practice, rather than in it on a daily basis. If you know me, after 40 years of working on a schedule this will allow my husband and I to do more traveling. Riverboat trip is already planned for spring.
I am also hopeful to have a stronger presence in the community. We support Rufty Holmes Senior Center when time allows. As a yearly sponsor of the Health & Fitness Day we hope to provide additional education there and throughout the community.
Another project for me in 2026 is setting up a local chapter of the nonprofit we support, Hearing the Call. Every time a Hearing Solutions family member establishes new hearing treatment by purchasing new hearing aids, we donate to Hearing the Call. If our patient matches that donation we increase our contribution. Fortunately, over a year’s time that can add up. Used hearing aids and independent donations are also sent to the general fund. It would be nice to keep those funds local. We have many patients that do not qualify for hearing help through Independent Living, Vocational Rehabilitation or Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. They need our help and we would like to find a way to do that.
Dr. Mussler continues to refine our tinnitus program offering additional testing and resources for management. So, if you have been told there is nothing you can do to help the ringing (roaring, buzzing, crickets, etc.) know help if available.
2026 is going to be an exciting year. If you would like more information on the services we provide, and would like to meet Dr. Carpenter or would like to schedule an appointment, give Katlin a call at 704-633-0023. Remember to visit our website at www.hearingsolutionsofnc.com, like us on Facebook. Dr. Mussler, Dr. Carpenter, Jane, Cheryl, Jamie, Diane, Katlin and I look forward to seeing you soon.
